            Growing up in an agrarian community, Shepherding was tied to one’s life. It was not an optional task for you, rather, it was a routine. It would normally be your responsibility to take ours for grazing the flock and to ship them back in for rest at the end of the day. You needed not just to have the flock fed, but to ensure its health, protection and preservation. The word shepherd to the caregiver of the flock in our context was akin to the womb in all of its content. You were the shepherd-watchman, the chef, the doctor, the midwife and the nurse. You would need to check the health of the flock, at times help deliver it and dress its wounds. Read more
