The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire has warned that medical personnel without the specialized training in treating coronavirus patients should desist from doing so as it portends grave danger for them and the country.
Dr. Ehanire who gave this advice during the daily media briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on Monday, said “the hazard is serious with regard to self infection and cross infection” adding that some Doctors who had no IPC training and accreditation and had embarked on such were already affected in parts of the country.
He said to manage isolation and treatment centres, “I enjoin all states to adhere to the standards as advised by the accreditation team, and professional colleagues, especially in the private sector, that it is very risky to be treating coronavirus patients in private homes or in their own hospital establishments without IPC and accreditation.
