The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is fast losing grip in Plateau State as thousands of its members decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in what looks like an exodus.
The political mass departure took place on Wednesday, at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos.
Senator Representing Plateau Central in National Assembly Sen. Joshua Chibi Dariye, Deputy Speaker of the Plateau state house of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, Engr. Jimmy Chetto and Hon. Danladi Atu, were among thousands of citizens of the state who formally denounced the PDP to decamp to the All Progressive Congress.
At the event, Senator Dariye lead decampees from the central zones, while former Deputy Governor of Plateau state under the second tenure of Governor Jonah Jang, Ambassador Ignatius Long Jang and Arch. Pam Dung Gyang lead decampees from the Southern zone and northern zones respectively.
Similarly, the Deputy Speaker of the Plateau state house of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, Engr. Jimmy Chetto and Hon. Danladi Atu, lead the Decampees from Kanam, Langtang south and Jos North local governments in that order.
Speaking at the event the state party chairman, Hon. Letep Dabang said the decampees have fulfilled the constitutional requirements of the APC, by identifying with their constituents from wards, local governments and the state.
He described the event as very symbolic considering the pedigree of the decampees involved and those how have come from Abuja, led by the National Chairman of the party, His Excellency, Dr. John Odigie Oyegun, and the Speaker House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Yakubu Doggara to receive the decampees.
The National Vice chairman of the APC in the North central zone, Alh. Zakari Iddi, expressed joy over the bold steps taken by the personalities and their followers to accept to be baptised, to become full members of the APC.
He pledged that by this time next year, the people of Nigeria will have time to smile because everything he does is for the betterment of common man in the country.
Oyegun who expressed gratitude for being invited to witness the massive departure said, together, they will join hands in fighting the difficulties plaguing the country; he assured that APC is working hard to revamp the economy back through agriculture.
Oyegun explained further when he searched on who could deliver the Ondo State elections, he had to make the important decision of choosing the trustworthy friend he found in governor Simon Lalong.
He commended Lalong for conducting a hitch free election that produced another APC governor.
He predicts that with the APC, the country would develop to become like China and Japan.
“By this time next year the people will have time to smile”, he assured.
