Erring DisCos to be sanctioned for failure to Meter MD Customers – NERC

nerc1-300x300The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) says electricity distribution companies (DisCos) are to meter their maximum demand customers not later than November 30, 2016.

NERC said this it is not an unfair bargain as the onus rests on them to provide meters to all classes of electricity customers in line with their performance agreement.

In a statement made available to the press, Acting Chairman, NERC, Dr. Anthony Akah said failure by DisCos to meter their MD customers will attract sanctions beginning December 1, 2016.

It said: “electricity distribution companies are expected to provide meter for all maximum demand meter customers on their networks not later than November 30, 2016 and that any MD customer willing to subscribe to the Credited Advance Payment for Metering Initiative (CAPMI) during the moratorium period should be allowed.”
