FG to start recruitment of 500,000 teachers

The recruitment of the 500,000 paid volunteer teachers promised by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is to commence this Sunday.

N POWER PORTALThe Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Mr. Laolu Akande who gave the statement said the programme consists of  3 different categories. These he said are:

  • The N-Power Teacher Corps: Engagement and Training of 500,000 young unemployed graduates for 2 years with N23, 000 monthly pay.
  • The N-Power Knowledge: Training of 25,000 Nigerians in technology.
  • The N-Power Build: Training of 75,000 Nigerians in building services, construction, utilities, hospitality and catering, automotive vocations, aluminum and gas services.

Akande said that the teacher’s Corps is for unemployed graduates willing to work on paid for voluntary basis, for a period of two years.

He said:  “Unemployed Nigerians selected and trained will play teaching, instructional, and advisory roles in primary, and secondary schools, agricultural extension systems across the country, public health and community education-covering civic and adult education.

“Besides their monthly take home pay estimated at about N23,000, the selected 500,000 graduates will also get computer devices that will contain information necessary for their specific engagement, as well as information for their continuous training and development.

“They get to keep the devices even after exiting from the programme.”
