The ousted PDP chairman Ali Modu Sheriff insists that his removal from office as the party chairman is illegal albeit being barricaded by the police from gaining entrance into the party secretariat.
The police in two heavy duty trucks sealed the entrance to the PDP Headquarters, following an order by the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase.
However this order came as a result of information from security sources, after the opposition party – a faction of the PDP, disagreed after the two conventions held in Abuja and Port Harcourt and Ali Modu Sheriff was asked to step as the party Chairman.
The party leaders explained that there is need for a more acceptable party Chair, hence the need for the party to conduct an election; Party leaders, governors and delegates converged at the Sharks stadium where they went on with the convention to remove Sheriff via a voice vote.
